Peppermint Pin Cushion and Santa Thread Catcher.

I tried to have this made in time for Christmas...better late than never as they say. The pattern asked for crushed walnut shells but I used rice instead...can we buy crushed walnut shells in Australia??
It's so cute, it's a shame that I will have to wait until December to use it.

Hi Tereasa, Love your christmas thread tidy bag. I have made a few tidy bag's in the past and have never (yet) came across someone who stocks the walnut shell filling. Rice is a good sub thou.. Living in Queensland near the beach, I used sand for the filling. I found it works well and it has a bit of weight behind it, also I just had to use a thicker lining. Your Chrissy Bag is surely a great 2010 chrissy present. Can never start to early I say..LOL. Katie Timmins

That is SERIOUSLY cute, Tereasa. Congrats on a finish - I will have to pull my socks up; I am feeling the peer pressure! I have seen the pin cushion pattern on the Moda blog; who designed the Santa bag? Clever girl!

Very very cute Tereasa. I have yet to finish something for this month so I had better 'pull finger'.

Hi Teresa - this is sooooooooooo cute - just love it. Is it all your own pattern??? Walnut shells - yes Annie Downs stocks them I'm sure otherwise you can use silica sand.

I haven't checked at our store but someone said you could get the walnut shells at a pet store??
Not sure which one you have there?

I just saw this and it is adorable. About the crushed walnut shells though, if you have a pet store that sells them for bedding, you can buy them!
